When Jasmine Archie saw this space on Craigslist, she thought it was fake. “It seemed too good to be true,” she says. The 800-square-foot loft apartment sits in East Austin, in a cute neighborhood full of community gardens and parks. “The garage door is what initially really drew me in and it’s one of my favorite features. I’m a photographer, so all of that light is a dream come true! Really everything about the space is a dream come true. When we toured it I knew I had to live here. I feel as if the space is my own personal playground.”

The unique garage door makes for incredible light and opens up to the living room, Jasmine’s favorite part of the apartment. “It’s the biggest section of the house and where most of the light comes through,” she says. “All of my decor fits exactly how I want it to in here and everything seemed to come together perfectly.”

Even though the move-in was just two months ago, the space already feels like home thanks to Jasmine’s touch. “We haven’t made many changes since it’s such a unique space, but I’ve put a lot of energy into decorating and hanging art throughout the house,” says Jasmine. “To me, my style is kind of all over the place because I love so many different kinds of decor and want a taste of each.”

A major statement piece in the living room is the 1980s Artedi coffee table that Jasmine bought at the Austin shop Open Invite.

The lofted bedroom is such a special part of the design of the space. 

The dining table is a custom piece Jasmine found on the mobile marketplace Offer Up.

Jasmine also has a lot of love to give to the pieces throughout her space. “I honestly have so many ‘favorite’ pieces in this house, but my Cold Picnic rug is my absolute favorite. It brings so much life into my home and ties everything together,” she says. “Another favorite would have to be my dining table. It’s massive and is so versatile as a dining table, an island, and a place to gather with friends. It’s the perfect table for entertaining.”

“I follow a lot of artists on Instagram and try to support the local art scene as much as I can,” says Jasmine. “I also buy art from Facebook Marketplace (along with most things) and collect pieces here and there from different thrift/antique malls.”

“I’ve collected quite a few cameras over the years,” says Jasmine. “This is just a sample, but I do shoot with most of them! A lot were found at estate sales, antique stores, or eBay, while others were gifted to me by thoughtful friends.”

Jasmine always has her eyes peeled for new pieces of art. The cowboy boots print is one of her prized works.

Then there’s the art, which makes up a significant part of the decor—another object of Jasmine’s affections. “Another absolute favorite is the big print of cowgirl boots. It was done by a local artist, Calhan Hale. I saw it during E.A.S.T. and fell in love! I knew I had to have it in my home,” says Jasmine. “I’m obsessed with all of my Matisse prints, they just bring so much character to the house. I love my bright orange foam mirror, also made by local Maddie Wehrmann. It’s just so much fun.”

Pops of color make a major statement in a black-and-white graphic bathroom. Eye spy some Dusen Dusen towels, a Cold Picnic bath mat, and some Totem candles.
