The Modern House is delighted to be partnering with the Twentieth Century Society to host a talk on the life and work of architect Douglas Snelling.

Born in Kent and educated in New Zealand, Snelling became one of Australias leading mid-century architects and an influential designer of furniture, interiors and landscapes. The talk will present some of his best-known houses and explain how Snelling interpreted the design and architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright and Southern California for the Australian landscape.

Davina Jackson is the author of the first comprehensive study of Snelling’s pan-Pacific life and works. A Sydney-based author, editor and curator, she writes extensively on modernist architecture and design in Oceania and the creative applications of technology in urban contexts. She was professor of multi-disciplinary design at the University of New South Wales and an editor of Architecture Australia.

Join us for the evening from 18.30 on Monday 9 October. Tickets are available to purchase here.
